SK Food to open new manufacturing plant in Ohio

Food products manufacturer SK Food Group is set to establish a new manufacturing facility in Columbus, Ohio, with an investment of $13m.

The company will operate an environmentally controlled food manufacturing facility within an existing 150,000² to 200,000ft² warehouse in a yet to be determined location in the Columbus region.

The facility will produce, package and distribute sandwiches and entrees to retailers, convenience stores and vending machine companies across North America.

The project is expected to create approximately 250 jobs over the next three years, which represents more than $7.6m in new payroll.

Positions include production, warehouse and administrative staff, and the hiring process is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2014.

SK Food president and CEO Steve Sposari said, "We were impressed with the Columbus region’s reputation in the manufacturing sector, including food manufacturing, and also its strategic location for logistics and distribution channels."
