Rich Products to shutdown bakery facility in New York

US-based Rich Products plans to shutdown its bakery product manufacturing facility in Rochester, New York, which will result in 92 job losses.

According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed with the New York State Department of Labor, the bakery plant will be closed on 10 October.

Rich Products gained ownership of the Rochester bakery plant in 2012, as part of its acquisition of California-based manufacturer Goglanian Bakeries.

The Rochester facility, which is located on White Street off Lake Avenue, manufactures pizza dough and flat bread products.

Rich Products spokesman Dwight Gram said that the work at the Rochester facility is being shifted to new production plant near Chicago, which also was part of the Goglanian deal but was under construction at the time of acquisition.

The company stated that workers affected with the closure of the Rochester facility will be provided with severance packages and jobs at the company’s other sites.

Rich Products also plans to hold a job fair for the affected workers.

Earlier this year, Rich Products recalled more than ten million pounds of frozen snack foods across the US over fears that the products may be contaminated with Escherichia coli O121 bacteria (E. coli O121).
