Coca-Cola West to Acquire Q’sai for $421m

Coca-Cola West in Japan will buy vegetable juice maker Q’sai Company for about $421m.

The company will pay a total cost of $758m, including debt.

Earlier this year Q’sai was put up for sale by owners Daiwa Corporate Investment, the private equity arm of Daiwa Securities, and buyout firm Polaris Capital Group.

Private equity firms including Carlyle Group, Unison Capital and CVC Capital had reportedly shown interest in the deal.

Daiwa’s private equity arm and Polaris paid about $712m for the equity of Q’sai in 2006.
