Birds Eye Acquisition Boosts Pinnacle Foods Q2 Profit

Pinnacle Foods Finance’s acquisition of Birds Eye Foods has boosted its Q2 net sales to $576.1m, up from $408.8m in the same period last year, the company said.

The US food producer said the takeover in late 2009 added $197.2m of net sales.

For the first six months, net sales were $1.2bn compared with $836.2m in 2009, Pinnacle Foods said.

The company’s net sales in the Birds Eye frozen division were $230.7m in the quarter ended 27 June against $98.1m in last year’s second quarter.

The acquisition added $138.1m in net sales.

The Specialty Foods Division reported net sales of $101m, up from $80.9m in 2009.
