SciMed Launches Milk Processing Technology

SciMed Technologies has developed a technology that allows users to measure vitamin A levels in milk.

Canada-based SciMed Technologies said the VitaKit A and its accompanying VitaKit D, for measuring vitamin D levels, are based on an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay technique.

VitaKit A utilises the immobilisation of proprietary monoclonal antibody directed against vitamin-A molecule on a solid phase.

A second anti-vitamin-A monoclonal antibody conjugated to horseradish peroxidase is used as the detecting antibody in the assay, according to dairyreporter.com.

SciMed said the VitaKit D assay system utilises a fixed number of Vitamin D3 molecules immobilised on a solid phase and these molecules compete with some Vitamin D3 molecules for a fixed number of binding sites.
