US Beverage Market to Continue to Fall

Health-conscious US consumers plan to spend less on carbonated soft drinks with 25% planning to reduce their intake level, according to a new study.

The drop in consumption is expected to cost the carbonated drinks industry $1.3bn, global business advisory firm AlixPartners said.

The report said nearly three in four consumers plan to spend the same or less on non-alcoholic beverages for at least 12 months.

Due to lower consumption the $197bn US non-alcoholic beverage market could see a revenue loss of $2.7bn.

Nearly 26% of the respondents said they would spend less on beer, representing a $3.5bn loss in revenue.
