Albright & Wilson Develops Food Preservative

Albright & Wilson has developed a natural food preservative for use in meat, poultry, seafood, cheese, salads, toppings and ready-to-eat dishes.

The Australian chemical firm said it has partnered with Vedeqsa to develop Mirenat which consists of active LAE in either liquid or solid formulations.

Bacteriostatic activity in the preservative fights against positive bacteria, gram-negative bacteria, mould and yeasts, the company said.

LAE is a product that is metabolised in the digestive tract hydrolysing into natural compounds found in the human diet.

It is also resistant to all heat processes used in the food industry and shows chemical stability between pH two to seven.
