Health Agencies Warn Against Raw Milk Use

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and state health agencies have alerted consumers to an outbreak of campylobacteriosis in raw milk.

The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) said it has confirmed 12 cases of campylobacter infections in consumers who drank the milk.

The FDA is collaborating with the MDCH, the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Indiana State Board of Animal Health and the Indiana State Health Department to investigate the outbreak.

The raw milk, which is generally unpasteurised milk from hoofed mammals such as cows, sheep, or goats originated from the Forest Grove Dairy in Middlebury, Indiana.

Symptoms of campylobacteriosis include diarrhoea, abdominal pain and fever.
