Pertima to Expand Production Capacity

Pertima, a subsidiary of Perbadanan Memajukan Iktisad Negeri Terengganu, is planning to acquire Terengganu to increase its output of canned korban (sacrificial) meat.

The Malaysian meat producer said it has recently received MYR3.5m ($1m) to raise the capacity of its factory.

Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said said Pertima will diversify its production capacity to compliment the state government’s objective of making Pertima one of the world’s major halal hubs.

In 2010, Pertima expects to process 300t of mutton by producing nearly 285,000 cans which would be shipped to countries in need of humanitarian aid such as Chad and Lebanon in the Middle East.
