Blown Film Control System to Help Packaging Units

US chemical firm Thermo Fisher Scientific has launched a multilayer measurement and control system for food and medical flexible packaging manufacturers.

The blown film lay-flat system combines the web gauging capabilities of the company’s 21Plus control platform with the Thermo Scientific FSIR full-spectrum infrared sensor.

According to the company, the system can be used to produce barrier layer films which help extend the shelf life of meat and cheese products, or to protect medical instruments from contaminants.

The system is designed to enable manufacturers with critical thickness and uniform measurements.

Automatic twist angle compensation claims to reduce downtime during changeovers and start-ups, the company said.
