Wolverine begins construction of new meat processing facility in US

US-based protein company Wolverine Packing (Wolverine) has broken ground on its fifth meat processing plant in Detroit’s Eastern Market.

Wolverine’s new 180,000ft² meat processing facility will be constructed by Indiana-based cold storage builder Tippmann Innovation (Ti).

The new facility is expected to create approximately 150 new jobs in the region.

Ti executive Rob Adams said: “It has been a privilege working with Detroit’s largest meat processing company and with Jay and Jim Bonahoom.

“Over the last 2.5 years, we’ve seen the project grow from a small facility and processing project into something much greater. At each phase of construction planning, Wolverine customers‘ needs continued to evolve.

“Because of our great working relationship with the management team at Wolverine, we were able to seamlessly make the adjustments necessary to deliver a fantastic facility.”

The cold storage construction company is said to have started construction works at Wolverine’s new site.

Through its existing facilities, Wolverine produces beef, poultry and other meat products, which are supplied to both international and domestic customers.

The company has also unveiled other development plans that include the rehabilitation for Forest Park, which is located on the east side of its new facility.
