Ter Beke to merge Dutch meat business

Belgian food company Ter Beke has announced that it will be integrating its processed meats activities in The Netherlands.

The integration is expected to be completed over the next few months.

As part of this initiative, the company will be merging its Offerman meat business with Ter Beke’s existing processed meats activities in the Netherlands.

Offerman has been operating as an independent business unit since it was acquired by Ter Beke in 2017.

The company has submitted requests for advice to various works councils regarding the proposed integration.

By integrating its Dutch meat business, Ter Beke aims to achieve more cost efficiency and leverage its scale for improved customer service and investments in food safety.

The company has also announced that its board of directors has decided to abandon its previously issued outlook for the 2020 results in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

In its update, Ter Beke said that it has made a significant investment to ensure the safety of its employees in the factories.

Additionally, the firm has decided to reduce the product range and temporarily shut down a number of production lines or decrease the speed of the lines.

It added that the pandemic has impacted the sales of its food products across in almost all markets in which the group is active.
