Tate and Lyle completes STA-LITE Polydextrose facility expansion in China

Tate and Lyle, a global provider of speciality food ingredients and solutions, has completed capacity expansion as well as process upgrades, at its STA-LITE Polydextrose facility in Nantong, Jiangsu Province, China.

STA-LITE Polydextrose is a soluble fibre used by the food producers for its nutritional benefits in products such as cereals, drinking yoghurts, fermented beverages, biscuits, and pastries.

The company noted that the facility expansion will help them meet the growing global demand for non-GMO soluble fibres.

Tate and Lyle Speciality Food Ingredients Asia Pacific general manager Harry Boot said: “We continue to see strong demand for our soluble fibres used in food and beverages globally to deliver solutions for sugar reduction and fibre enrichment.

“The three-fold capacity increase at our polydextrose facility in China will help us meet this growing demand, and provide a high-quality product to customers in Asia Pacific and other regions of the world.”

With the completion of the expansion, Tate and Lyle is reported to have further improved its manufacturing as well as quality processes and facility’s packaging capabilities.

As part of the expansion, the speciality food ingredients provider installed advanced environmental management infrastructure and systems to deliver on its commitment for responsible manufacturing.

The expansion increases capacity at the facility in Nantong by more than three times from when it was acquired by Tate and Lyle in 2014.

The expansion is reported to have increased production capacity of the Nantong facility by more than three times since it was first acquired by Tate and Lyle in 2014.

Tate and Lyle Health and Wellness Global Product Management director Courtney Kingery said: “Tate and Lyle is the only polydextrose manufacturer with production lines on three continents.

“Our investment in Nantong significantly enhances our fibre production capabilities and expands our non-GMO offering.”
