Tate & Lyle finishes expansion of Singapore food application centre

Global speciality food ingredients and solutions provider Tate & Lyle has completed the expansion of its laboratory in Singapore.

With the completion of this expansion, the food ingredients provider intends to transform its Singapore laboratory into a hub for food and beverage formulation in the Asia-Pacific region.

The decision to expand the Singapore facility was taken by the company to meet the growing demand for ingredients and solutions, which helps to reduce sugar, fat and calories, as well as improve consumer products.

Tate & Lyle Asia-Pacific general manager and senior vice-president Harry Boot said: “Manufacturers are increasingly looking to agile and expert partners like Tate & Lyle to help them meet growing consumer demand for great tasting food and beverages that support balanced diets and lifestyles.

With pilot-scale capabilities in beverage, dairy, bakery, sauce and dressing processing, the new laboratory will allow Tate & Lyle food scientists to work in a collaborative environment with the food and beverage partners and develop products that meet consumer’s needs.

The company’s application and technical service teams will also offer their knowledge and expertise to the manufacturers and help them to overcome processing and scale-up challenges.

Using enhanced analytical capabilities at the application centre, Tate & Lyle intends to create a multi-disciplinary approach required for a successful food formulation.

The Singapore application centre also serves as the company’s Asia-Pacific headquarters and will receive support through a network of applications laboratories, sales and technical service resources located in various countries, including Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan and New Zealand.

Tate & Lyle’s Singapore application will also receive support from other countries that include the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
