Sonneveld Group acquires bakery ingredients manufacturer Vamo

Orkla Food Ingredients subsidiary Sonneveld Group has completed an agreement to acquire Dutch ingredients manufacturer Vamo produkten voor de Bakkerij.

Vamo’s production facilities and headquarters are located in Duiven. The company has also established its presence in the Benelux’s special ingredients segment for corn-based products.

Sonneveld Group CEO Peter Verhagen said: “Vamo is a well-run company with a good customer base and a product portfolio that is a good fit with Sonneveld. The acquisition of Vamo will complement Sonneveld’s position as a supplier of ingredients and accessories to the bakery market.”

Founded in 1963, Vamo is engaged in the production of specialised concentrates and ingredient mixes that are distributed to manufacturers of artisan and industrial bakery products.

Currently, the company is owned by two private stakeholders who also jointly lead the company.

Additionally, the owners hold a 20% stake in Quattro Enzymes Solutions, in which Sonneveld has a 60% interest.

Financial details of the deal have not been divulged.

Orkla Food supplies bakery ingredients and ice cream accessories in the Nordic region, as well as in certain European countries.

In the Netherlands, the company has a strong presence through its subsidiaries Sonneveld, NIC, Broer and Laan.

Last month, Orkla signed an agreement to acquire a 20% stake in Icelandic chocolate and confectionery manufacturer Nói-Siríus.

Nói Siríus operates production plants and warehouse facilities in Reykjavik and is owned by several private investors.

Its portfolio includes a number of Icelandic chocolate bars, such as Síríus, Nóa Konfekt, Nóa Kropp, Nóa Páskaegg and Konsum.
