Smithfield Foods brand Carando expands product portfolio

Smithfield Foods brand Carando has expanded its products offerings with the addition of handheld, fully cooked calzones.

With the new product launch, Carando intends to further increase its presence in the deli section.

Smithfield Foods Carando brand manager Diane Purnell said: “As a leader in Italian meats, we are excited to expand our portfolio and bring more of the traditional taste of Carando to consumers.

“Our new fully cooked calzones offer convenient, on-the-go options for consumers looking to enjoy an easy meal at any time.”

Carando’s new calzones line-up features three flavours, including pepperoni, meatball, and chicken parmesan.

The company claims that the line-up offers a simple, no-prep meal without compromising taste.

Each 6oz calzone can be purchased for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $2.99.

Carando founder Pietro Carando introduced the Italian tradition of sausage-making in the US nearly a century ago.

Smithfield’s portfolio of high-quality iconic brands includes Smithfield, Eckrich, and Nathan’s Famous, among many others.

Last August, Smithfield Foods announced the launch of a plant-based protein portfolio under its Pure Farmland brand. The new range included soy-based products such as breakfast patties, meatballs, burger patties and pre-seasoned protein starters.

The company claimed that all its products were produced in the US and contain natural flavours and are free from gluten and dairy.

They are packaged in trays made from more than 50% recycled material and are rolled out to Kroger, Sprouts Farmers Market and Target.
