Sensient agrees to acquire GlobeNatural colour business

Global manufacturer and marketer of flavours Sensient Technologies (Sensient) has entered a definitive agreement to acquire the natural colour business from South American natural food and ingredient company GlobeNatural.

Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed by either of the companies.

The transaction is expected to close by the end of the first quarter of this year.

Based in Lima, Peru, and owned by the Michell Group, GlobeNatural has been sourcing, manufacturing, and exporting natural food ingredients for more than two decades.

The natural colours manufactured by GlobeNatural are used in a wide range of food and beverage applications in every region of the world.

Upon completion of the acquisition, the new business entity will be a part of Sensient Technologies and will operate as Sensient Natural Colors Peru.

The company noted that the acquisition will support Sensient food colours ‘Seed to Shelf’ strategy.

Sensient Technologies chairman and chief executive officer Paul Manning said: “This acquisition is an important component of our ‘seed to shelf’ initiative in food colours.

“80% of food products launched globally use natural colours and colouring foodstuffs and we anticipate that this market will continue to grow.

“We will continue to innovate and expand our natural colour supply chain portfolio.”

Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, US, Sensient Technologies has been manufacturing and marketing colours, flavours, and fragrances.
