Niman Ranch launches no-sugar meat products in US

US-based Niman Ranch has launched a new line of eight ‘no-sugar’ products that include bacon, pork chops, a pork roast, and sausages.

Claimed to include clean and minimally processed ingredients, the no-sugar items are intended for those on specialised diet programmes such as paleo and Whole30, as well as for those suffering from medical conditions who need a low-sugar diet.

Niman Ranch vice president of marketing and new products Drew Calvert said: “With no-sugar bacon growing at a faster rate than traditional bacon, Niman Ranch’s bestselling and award-winning product was in high demand.

“Our no-sugar Applewood Smoked Bacon went through many rounds of taste tests until we felt confident it could go toe-to-toe with our traditional bacon.

“We are pleased with the end result and are happy to introduce the renowned bacon and other products to our consumers.”

The no-sugar line includes Applewood Smoked Bacon, Ginger Lemongrass, Andouille, and Apple Gouda, Uncured Sausages, and Seasoned Pork Chops, which include Uncured Bacon Wrapped with Rosemary.

It also comprises Herb and Cracked Mustard Seed, Sea Salt and Cracked Black Pepper, as well as a Herb and Cracked Mustard Seed Pork Roast.

The company claimed that out of the eight products, its Apple Gouda Uncured Sausage does not qualify for the Whole30 programme due to the presence of dairy.

According to Niman Ranch, its pork is third-party-certified under the Certified Humane programme and sourced from hogs raised by small, independent family hog farmers.

These farmers follow animal welfare protocols, including no use of antibiotics, gestation, or farrowing crates.

Calvert added: “Customers can expect all the flavours from Niman Ranch, without any added sugar.”
