US Foods to buy broadline distributor F. Christiana

US Foods has agreed to purchase distribution company F. Christiana for an undisclosed amount.

F. Christiana distributes food, dairy and dry goods to almost 1,800 independent restaurants, hotels and stores located across Louisiana, southern Mississippi and parts of southern Alabama in the US.

F. Christiana general manager Nick Christiana said: “We see many similarities between US Foods and F. Christiana, most important of which is the passion for bringing value to its customers to help them succeed.

“With the size and scale of US Foods, our customers will have increased access to new and innovative products and business solutions to help them continue to grow their businesses profitably.”

Upon completion of the deal, F. Christiana will continue to operate under the same name from its existing 70,000ft² facility.

US Foods south region president Keith Knight said: “F. Christiana has an excellent reputation in the independent operator space.

“When combined with their success in key strategic markets such as New Orleans and Baton Rouge, this acquisition will further enhance our position with new and existing customers in Louisiana.”

Foodservice distributor US Foods works in partnership with nearly 250,000 chefs, restaurants and foodservice operators.

The company operates across 60 locations in the US and generates annual revenues of $23bn.

The transaction is expected to complete this month.
