US Foods to acquire meat manufacturer FirstClass Foods

American catering distributor US Foods has agreed to acquire meat manufacturing company FirstClass Foods.

Since 1962, FirstClass Foods has been offering custom processing and portion control cuts of meat, seafood and speciality products.

US Foods stockyards president David Norton said: “US Foods has worked with FirstClass Foods for years and we’ve experienced the company’s commitment to high-quality products and consistency.

“This acquisition will allow us to expand our centre of the plate offering and better serve our customers throughout southern California.”

Upon completion of the transaction, US Foods will operate at the 50,000ft² facility in Hawthorne as a stockyard location.

FirstClass Foods president Solly Benzimra said: “From the very beginning, we have delivered on our commitment to our customers and we are looking forward to the next chapter for our company as part of US Foods.”

The transaction is expected to be closed by the end of this month.
