Swiss meat company Bell acquires Geiser

Swiss meat company Bell has acquired Geiser, a Schlieren-based firm that specialises in deliveries to the food service sector.

The financial details of the transaction have not been divulged by either company.

Geiser has a workforce of approximately 120 people and generates annual sales of roughly Sfr45m ($45.9m).

Bell said that it will take over all employees and management.

The acquisition will help Bell Switzerland to strengthen its position in deliveries to the Swiss food service market.

Geiser produces meat and charcuterie products, as well as a number of specialities for the food service sector in its production plant located in Schlieren.

Existing management team and employees of Geiser will continue to manage business operations, and the consolidation with the Bell Group is planned from 1 October.

The takeover will help Geiser enhance its position in the market.

Upon completion of the transaction, Geiser will be managed as an independent unit under the umbrella of Bell Switzerland and continue to work its own sales markets.

The acquisition is part of Bell’s investment planning in Switzerland, as the company aims to strengthen its focus on customer groups.

Bell’s bigger production sites will focus on rational and efficient large-scale production, and the smaller and more flexible plants will be concentrating on the regional and customer-specific product ranges.
