Richardson completes acquisition of European Oat Millers in UK

Canadian agriculture and food processing company Richardson International has expanded its oat milling business with the acquisition of European Oat Millers in the UK.

Financial details of the deal have not been revealed by either company.

Headquartered in Bedford, European Oat Millers has been engaged in the production of oat products, including wheat and barley flakes, as well as extruded ingredients and products.

Richardson International president and CEO Curt Vossen said: "As the largest oat miller in North America, we now look forward to building a presence in Europe to enhance our ability to compete in the global marketplace."

Vossen further explained that the company intends to further increase the manufacturing capacity of European Oat Millers and explore new opportunities to expand this business worldwide.

European Oat Millers co-founder Bill Jordan said: "We are pleased to be passing it on to a similar family-owned business that shares both our vision for growth and our core values and we look forward to watching the business evolve."

Richardson entered the oat milling business by acquiring three processing plants in Canada and one in the US in 2013.
