MORRE-Tec acquires Vitacyclix

New Jersey-based MORRE-Tec Industries has acquired Vitacyclix, a producer of vitamins, nutrients and bioflavonoids that are used to enhance food and drink products.

Financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

According to Nutraingredients.com, MORRE-Tec president and CEO Leonard Glass said Vitacyclix is ‘a dairy fortification company that actually developed and launched the original vitamin A and D concentrates more than 55 years ago under their flagship brand, Freeman Dairy vitamins A&D’.

This purchase will bring several range of products, including water-soluble vitamins, liquid concentrates and powders, which can be used in food and drink.

MORRE-Tec will also collaborate with Vitacyclix founders to market new water-soluble nutritional ingredients. These comprise fat-soluble vitamins, carotenoids and bioflavonoids created using Vitacylcix’s SOL-U-BLE technology.

This technology is claimed to boost water solubility and absorption levels of fat-soluble vitamins.

Commenting on the relevancy of this acquisition, MORRE-Tec director of sales and marketing Michael Glass said: "Experts believe that more than one billion individuals are vitamin D deficient, which is significant because of the well-established negative effects of this deficiency."

"Originally recognised as the vitamin that overcame the scourge of rickets, vitamin D deficiency has been associated with enabling a vast number of other serious conditions including various forms of cancer, osteoporosis, Crohn’s disease, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, heart ailments, arthritis and autoimmune illnesses. More and more, well informed consumers are scrutinising labels for vitamin D."
