M&As this week: Hostess Brands, Fortune Fish & Gourmet Company, Raya Holding Company for Technology and Telecommunication

Hostess Brands has acquired Massachusetts-based in-store bakery company, Superior Cake Products, in order to enhance its product portfolio.

Superior Cake Products produces a variety of sweet offerings, including éclairs, madeleines and brownie bites, which are retailed under the ‘Superior on Main’ brand.

According to the terms of the acquisition, Hostess Brands will acquire a number of brands from Superior Cake Products.

Coastal Seafoods, a seafood retail and wholesale business based in Minnesota, US, will be acquired by Fortune Fish & Gourmet Company in a transaction that is expected to be closed by the end of next month.

Coastal Seafoods founder Suzanne Weinstein will continue as a consultant after the acquisition. Coastal Seafoods’ distribution operations will be rebranded as Fortune Fish & Gourmet, while its two retail outlets will continue to operate under the Coastal Seafoods brand.

Egyptian technology firm Raya Holding Company for Technology and Telecommunication has announced plans to acquire a stake in Makarony Polskie, a pasta producer and retailer.

Raya Holding intends to acquire a 19.3% stake from a shareholder of the Polish food company.

TriMark USA, has acquired foodservice equipment supplier Adams-Burch, in a move to enhance its business in the Mid-Atlantic region.

TriMark USA is a well-known supplier of design services and equipment in the food industry.

The CEO and president of Adams-Burch will continue to work with TriMark Adams-Burch in their current role.
