HKScan to expand bacon plant in Poland

Finland-based meat products supplier HKScan has announced its plans to expand its bacon factory in Swinoujscie, Poland.

The firm intends to invest in the expansion of the facility as part of its strategy to achieve profitable growth.

This investment, which will enhance the unit’s production capacity, will see installation of new production technologies that will enable the plant to develop new products as well as improve product quality.

The new investment will help in strengthening its position in the bacon market and the high-value added product category, both of which are the company’s strategic focus areas. HKScan plans to invest around €12m.

Expansion of the facility is scheduled for completion by the end of 2017.

HKScan produces and markets pork, beef, poultry and lamb products. Its products are distributed to retail, food service, industrial and export sectors.

The company has a presence in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and the Baltics.

In addition, its products are exported to 50 countries.

In 2015, HKScan reported net sales of around €1.9bn, and had a workforce of 7,400 employees.
