Finnish competition authority approves Atria’s acquisition of Kaivon Liha Kaunismaa Oy

The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA) has approved Atria's decision to acquire Kaivon Liha Kaunismaa Oy (Kaivon Liha).

Atria's intends to acquire a 70% stake in Kaivon Liha.

Even though it has no terms or conditions, the approval was granted after FCCA found that Atria’s planned acquisition of Kaivon Liha announced late August would not hinder competition in the country's beef industry, reported Globalmeatnews.com.

The transaction between the companies and the confirmation of the purchase price will be finalised next month. 

Focused on the processing and wholesale of beef, Kaivon Liha's customers are primarily fast-food chains and other food service companies.

It has a strong market presence in Finland as a manufacturer of hamburger and kebab products. The company has a production plant in Turku, Finland, and has 50 employees.

Kaivon Liha's products complements Atria's range of beef products.

Atria's annual net sales is expected to increase by approximately €40m.
