Deals this week: Wind Point Partners, Raisio, BRF

Wind Point Partners has acquired private-label pork rind producer Evans Food Group and its subsidiaries in partnership with Jose Prado.

US-based private equity firm Wind Point funded the deal through debt sanctioned by BMO Harris Bank N.A. and Antares Capital, while DLA Piper LLP acted as the legal adviser.

Jose Luis Prado will be appointed as the chairman and CEO of the target company and will work in close association with Evans Food’s co-founder Alejandro Silva.

Raisio has entered into a licensing agreement with UK-based extruded cereals and meat-free product maker The Brecks Company.

Effective from July, the agreement will see Brecks handle the marketing and sales of the Honey Monster products in the UK.

BRF has entered into a R$20.2m ($5.6m) deal with Globosuinos Agropecuaria to purchase the latter’s piglet’s production facility and 7,500 sows.

Both Brazil-based companies, BRF produces fresh and frozen protein foods, whereas Globosuinos Agropecuaria produces, sells and distributes meats.

Sonic is raising $425m through private placement of fixed-rate senior secured notes bearing a coupon rate of 4.472%. The notes, to be issued under the 2016-1 Class A-2 series, will be due 2023.

The American drive-in restaurant chain intends to repay series 2011-1 class A-2 fixed rate senior secured notes and series 2011-1 Class A-1 variable funding senior secured notes from the new issue proceeds.

Muyuan Foodstuff has announced plans to raise CNY5bn ($773.28m) to finance its hog-breeding project, repay loans and meet working capital requirements.

The Chinese pig breeding and slaughtering facilities operator will raised the fund through private placement of 100.62 million shares at CNY49.69 ($7.68m) a share.
