Conagra Brands completes Thanasi acquisition

Conagra Brands has completed the acquisition of protein-based snacking businesses Thanasi Foods and BIGS.

The businesses are collectively known as Thanasi.

The companies have not disclosed the financial details of the transaction, which was initially announced last month..

Conagra Brands president and CEO Sean Connolly said: "The addition of Duke's and BIGS is another move to reshape Conagra's portfolio to be more premium and modern.

"We welcome the Thanasi team to Conagra and look forward to working together to grow the brands."

Upon closing of the transaction, the Duke's and BIGS brands will continue operating out of Boulder, Colorado, US.

Duke's is a meat snack brand offering products such as Duke's Smoked Shorty Sausages and Duke's Steak & Brisket Strips, while BIGS manufactures seed-based snack products such as jumbo in-shell sunflower seeds, sunflower seed kernels and roasted pumpkin seeds.

Conagra currently manages the Slim Jim and the DAVID Seeds brands.

The company offers brands such as Marie Callender's, Reddi-wip, Hunt's, Healthy Choice, Slim Jim and Orville Redenbacher's, as well as Alexia, Blake's and Frontera.
