Cargill to sell oilseed processing facilities in France and Netherlands to Bunge

Cargill has announced its intention to enter into an agreement to sell its two oilseed processing plants and businesses in the Netherlands and France to food production company Bunge.

In the Netherlands, Cargill plans to sell its soybean and rapeseed crush and soybean oil refining facility in the Port of Amsterdam, as well as part of the bulk port terminal assets that support discharge and storage of raw materials for the crush plant.

In France, the transaction will include the soybean and rapeseed crush facility in the Port of Brest. The aggregate annual processing capacity at the two locations is approximately two million tonnes.

The acquisition will help Bunge to enhance its soy processing operations in Europe and further expand its global oilseed processing footprint into key destinations in northern Europe.

Cargill's industrial operations and business activities will be integrated within Bunge’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regional operations and global soy crush platform.

Employees associated with the two businesses will transfer to Bunge.

Cargill is currently consulting its employee representative bodies in the Netherlands and France.

The company plans to retain its soybean processing facilities located in the ports of Barcelona, Spain, and Liverpool, UK, as these plants are connected with its other businesses serving local customers in the food and feed sectors in these countries.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions such as competition clearance.
