Border Biscuits to increase production with funding from Clydesdale Bank

Border Biscuits is expanding production capacity in its manufacturing facility in Lanark, the UK, a move that is being backed by the funding received from Clydesdale Bank.

As part of the expansion, the company will add a new production line to its manufacturing unit in a bid to increase its market share south of the Border.

Founded in 1984, with four varieties, Border Biscuits now produces more than 24 types of biscuits.

The company also has supply contracts with major supermarkets, such as Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons, besides serving wholesale and food service sectors, and independent retailers in the UK.

Clydesdale Bank is continuing to lend its support to the Scottish food and drink sector by renewing its strategic partnership with industry organisation Scotland Food & Drink this year. The bank also has a similar association with Scottish Bakers.

Border Biscuits UK sales and marketing director Mark Bruce said: "Our latest funding package from Clydesdale Bank will allow us to significantly expand our operations and grow UK and international sales."

Border Biscuits offers an array of products of which dark chocolate ginger is considered to be one of the best-sellers, with more than 24 million biscuits manufactured annually.

Border Biscuits, which generated more than £14.5m in annual sales volume during its previous financial year, has been associated with Clydesdale Bank since 2013.
