M&As this week: Savencia, The Mennel Milling, IIFL

Savencia SA (Savencia Fromage & Dairy) has completed the acquisition of Rogue Creamery for an undisclosed Sum.

Rogue has become part of Savencia following the transaction and the company will continue to operate as a separate public benefit corporation.

France-based Savencia is a producer and retailer of dairy products, while Rogue Creamery is an artisan cheesemaker based in the US.

The acquisition is expected to strengthen Savencia’s portfolio of speciality cheeses.

The Mennel Milling Company has signed an agreement to acquire Keynes Brothers Inc.

Mennel is expected to assume ownership of Keynes Brothers’ flour mill in Logan, Ohio, under the deal, as well as three country elevators in Atlanta, Jeffersonville and Radnor in Ohio.

The company will also acquire the majority of Keynes Brothers’ transportation division as part of the arrangement.

Mennel is a food production firm specialising in bakery products and popcorn, while Keynes is a grain milling company.

Both companies involved in the transaction are based in the US.

The transaction is expected to expand Mennel’s footprint in southern Ohio, US.

IIFL Special Opportunities Fund has purchased a minority interest in Bikaji Foods International Ltd for a consideration of Rs2.5bn (36.98m).

IIFL is a close-ended investment fund, while Bikaji Foods is primarily engaged in the production of packaged Indian snacks.

Both companies are based in India.

Food processing equipment manufacturer Middleby has signed an agreement to acquire the Taylor Company from UTC Climate, Controls & Security for a sum of $1bn.

Middleby plans to fund the all-cash acquisition through its existing revolving credit facility.

US-based Taylor Company is engaged in the manufacture and supply of beverage solutions, ice cream dispensing equipment and automated double-sided grills, while UTC is involved in the provision of fire safety, heating and cooling solutions.

All companies involved in the transaction are based in the US.

The transaction is slated to boost Middleby’s position in the commercial foodservice market, as well as strengthen the company’s existing capabilities in the automated cooking solutions market.

Eat Club has completed the acquisition of healthy meal delivery service provider Farm Hill.

Eat Club is a catering services company co-founded by Marc Manara.

Both companies involved in the transaction are based in the US.

Kp Snacks Limited has agreed to acquire Tyrrells Potato Crisps Ltd from US-based chocolate and non-chocolate products manufacturer The Hershey Co.

The acquisition covers Tyrrells’ UK manufacturing sites and snacks business in Germany, as well as the company’s US-based manufacturing capabilities.

Kp Snacks is a producer of prepared foods, while Tyrrells is a manufacturer and distributor of potato crisps.

Both companies are based in the UK.

The acquisition is expected to strengthen Kp Snacks’ footprint in the UK and France.
