M&As this week: Romana Food Brands, Bellamy’s Australia Limited, Ecolumber

Romana Food Brands Corp has announced that it intends to acquire 100% stake in Michelis Egidio SNC di Michelis CMM (Michelis).

Romana Food Brands is an upcoming producer of Italian food products based in Canada, while Michelis Egidio SNC di Michelis CMM is an Italian producer of dried and frozen pasta, as well as baked goods.

The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of April.

Bellamy’s Australia Limited has agreed to acquire the remaining 10% stake in Camperdown Powder from Buena Investments for A$3.6m ($2.84m). The transaction will involve the sale of 0.3 million shares priced at A$10.96 ($8.67) each.

Following the transaction, Camperdown Powder will be 100% owned by Bellamy’s Australia.

Based in Australia, the target company is a producer and exporter of infant formula and other formulated milk powders, while Bellamy’s Australia is an organic baby food producer.

The transaction will enable Bellamy’s Australia to strengthen its business and manufacturing capabilities.

Ecolumber has acquired 100% stake in Uriarte Iturrate SL and its subsidiary Frutos Secos De La Vega SL for €75m ($91.48m).

Ecolumber is an investment company dealing with agro-forest projects, while Uriarte Iturrate is a dry fruit producer.

All the companies involved in the acquisition are based in Spain.

Australian private equity firm Quadrant Private Equity Pty Limited has reached an agreement to acquire between 80% and 90% stake in Darrell Lea Confectionery Co Pty Ltd for A$200m ($159.06m).

Darrell Lea Confectionery Co is also based in Australia and manufactures chocolate, liquorice, and other confectionery products.

Private equity firm Highlander Partners has acquired food products producer Chicago Custom Foods from another private equity firm VMG Partners and Brian Taylor.

All the entities involved in the acquisition are based in the US.

The transaction will enable Highlander Partners to focus its investments in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) sector and high-quality food companies.
