M&As this week: Highline Produce Limited, nebag ag, McCain Foods

Highline Produce Limited has acquired Canadian company Prairie Mushrooms.

The target company will operate as Highline Mushrooms, upon completion of the acquisition.

Based in Canada, Highline Produce Limited is involved in the production and distribution of mushrooms.

The transaction will strengthen Highline’s Western Canadian operations and enhance its portfolio in Canada.

nebag ag has gained 1.53% stake in Orior AG by acquiring 100,000 shares in the company.

nebag is an investment company, while Orior is involved in production of convenience food and refined meat products. Both companies are based in Switzerland.

McCain Foods Limited has acquired 49% stake in Brazilian dairy products producer Forno De Minas Alimentos.

The acquisition is expected to expand the Canadian frozen potato products manufacturer’s business in Brazil, as well as strengthen its global market position.

Jumbo Groep Holding and Coop Holding have agreed to purchase EMTE Holding and its subsidiaries from Sligro Food Group for €410m ($504.98m).

Sligro Food sells food and beverages products, while both Jumbo Groep and Coop Holding are supermarket chain operators.

Subsidiaries of EMTE Holding involved in the deal include EMTE Supermarkten, EMTE Franchise and EMTE Vleescentrale.

EMTE Supermarkten is a supermarket chain operator, while EMTE Franchise is a food, beverages and general assortment wholesaler, and EMTE Vleescentrale is a fresh meat provider.

All companies involved in the acquisition are based in the Netherlands.

The acquisition is part of Jumbo Groep and Coop Holding’s omni-channel strategy aimed at creating a unique co-operative brand.

Platinum Equity has acquired food ingredients distributor Lentz Milling Company.

The US-based private equity firm will combine the newly acquired company with the business of JM Swank, which was acquired from ConAgra Foods in 2016.

The acquisition will further expand JM Swank’s business.
