M&As this week: HelloFresh, iFresh, Farm to Fork

German meal kit company HelloFresh has completed the acquisition of US-based organic meal kit company Green Chef Corp.

HelloFresh will offer Green Chef’s organic vegan and gluten-free menus to its customers, following the transaction. It also plans to integrate Green Chef’s culinary teams and production facility in Colorado with its operations.

The acquisition will enable HelloFresh to drive growth and expand its business.

iFresh has announced a non-binding letter of intent to acquire a 75% stake in Fujian Fuding Seagull Fishing Food for CNY525m ($82.83m).

Consumers of iFresh will gain access to the variety of fresh seafood provided by Seagull Fishing.

Based in the US, the acquirer company is a grocery supermarket chain operator, while the target company is a China-based provider of seafood breeding, fishing, processing, trade, and other services.

Farm to Fork (Dahmakan) has completed the acquisition of Polpa.

The acquirer company is a food delivery company based in Malaysia, while the target company is a Thailand-based company involved in the delivery of healthy ready-to-eat meals.

The acquisition will enable Dahmakan to expand its business.

US-based private equity firm Kainos Capital has acquired Culinarte Marketing Group (dba Bonewerks Culinarte).

Based in the US, Culinarte Marketing Group is a producer and marketer of sauces.

The acquisition will enable Bonewerks Culinarte to expand its product range and introduce on-trend products.

Mitsui & Co (U.S.A.) has purchased a stake in Mark Foods.

The acquirer company is a general trading company based in the US, while the target company, also based in the US, is a packaged and frozen seafood manufacturer.

The acquisition will enable Mark Foods to sell premium and niche seafood products to high-end retailers and restaurants.

Meat products producer Danish Crown has acquired pepperoni, salami and chorizo producer DK-Foods.

Danish Crown acquired a 70% stake in the company from private equity firm Maj Invest Equity and 30% stake in the company’s executives Steffen Ramsgaard and Per Fischer Larsen.

DK-Foods will operate under Danish Crown’s subsidiary Tulip Food, following the transaction.

Both the companies involved in the acquisition are based in Denmark.

The acquisition will enable Danish Crown to strengthen its European business in pepperoni toppings for pizzas.

Asrapport Dining has agreed to acquire Japan Food and Liquor Alliance (JFLA).

JFLA will operate as a subsidiary of Asrapport Dining, following the transaction.

Based in Japan, Asrapport Dining is a food service franchise chain operator, while JFLA, also based in Japan, is a producer and seller of food and alcohol.

The acquisition will expand Asrapport Dining’s eating out business and strengthen its production and distribution functions.

French food retailer Carrefour has acquired QuiToque, an online meal kit delivery services provider also based in France.

QuiToque will continue to be managed by its co-founders.

The acquisition will expand Carrefour’s e-commerce business.

Brazilian food products retailer Cinel Alimentos Comercio Importacao e Exportacao has acquired Broto Legal Alimentos for $67.5m.

Based in Brazil, Broto Legal Alimentos is involved in the cultivation and commercialisation of cereals, vegetables, meat and other food products.
