M&As this week: Guangdong VTR Bio-Tech, Tech-bank Food, Marfrig Global Foods

Guangdong VTR Bio-Tech has agreed to purchase 51% interest in health products and foods manufacturer Changsha Shiwei Technologies for CNY85.7m ($13.58m).

Guangdong VTR is a manufacturer of feed enzymes, feed probiotics, and functional feed and plant extract additives.

Both companies involved in the acquisition are based in China.

Tech-bank Food (formerly Ningbo Tech-Bank) has agreed to buy a 23.8% stake in Hangzhou Qiandaohu Xunlong Sci-tech from William Howston for CNY114.62m ($18.17m).

Based in China, Tech-bank Food produces and sells animal feed, while Hangzhou Qiandaohu Xunlong Sci-tech, also based in China, is involved in the production and supply of caviar.

The deal will help Tech-bank Food to attain industry consolidation and scale-up its business and operations.

Marfrig Global Foods (formerly Marfrig Alimentos) has agreed to acquire 51% stake in National Beef Packing Company for $969m.

Leucadia National Corporation currently controls and owns 79% interest in National Beef Packing Company.

The partners in National Beef Packing Company will be Marfrig Global Foods (51%), Leucadia (31%), US Premium Beef (15%) and others (3%) following the transaction.

Based in Brazil, Marfrig Global Foods produces and processes meat and poultry products, while National Beef Packing Company is a beef processor based in the US.

The acquisition is expected to strengthen Marfrig Global Foods’ core business and expand its footprint in the US beef industry.

CITIC Agri Fund Management has acquired 25.18% stake representing 379 million shares in Ausnutria Dairy Corporation for HK$1.96bn ($250.11m).

CITIC Agri Fund will acquire 249 million new shares from Ausnutria Dairy and 130 million existing shares from Center Laboratories as part of the acquisition.

Center Laboratories will hold 24.98% stake in Ausnutria following the transaction.

Based in China, CITIC Agri Fund is a private equity fund, while Ausnutria Dairy Corporation is a Hong Kong-based dairy company involved in milk collection, processing, production, marketing and distribution of infant formula and other dairy products.
