M&As this week: Fresh Del Monte, Empire Equipment, ProspEquity Partners

Fresh Del Monte Produce has completed the acquisition of an equity investment in Three Limes (Purple Carrot).

Fresh Del Monte is a producer and marketer of fresh-cut fruits and vegetables, while Purple Carrot is a plant-based meal kit provider.

Both the companies involved in the transaction are based in the US.

The acquisition will enable Fresh Del Monte to expand its business and provide fresh fruit and vegetable offerings through multiple distribution channels.

Empire Equipment Company has acquired US-based food service equipment providers TruTemp Equipment and Norms Refrigeration.

Based in the US, Empire Equipment is a provider of food service equipment.

The acquisition will enable Empire Equipment to create a wholesale distribution platform for its food service equipment.

ProspEquity Partners has acquired a majority interest in US-based chocolates and coffee concentrate manufacturer Tierra Nueva Fine Cocoa.

Based in the US, ProspEquity Partners is a private equity firm.

Savola Group has entered an agreement to acquire a 51% interest in Al Kabeer Group for SAR65.5m ($150.71m).

Based in Saudi Arabia, Savola Group is a producer of edible oils, snack foods and dairy foods, while Al Kabeer Group is a UAE-based manufacturer and distributor of frozen foods.

Kellogg has acquired a stake in Tolaram Africa Foods (TAF) from Singapore-based industrial conglomerate Tolaram Corporation.

Based in the US, the acquirer company is a manufacturer and marketer of ready-to-eat cereal and convenience food, while the target company is a noodle products manufacturer and distributor based in Ghana.

The acquisition will expand Kellogg’s business in Africa.

Thai Union Frozen Products has signed an agreement to acquire a 45% stake in TUMD Luxembourg.

Based in Thailand, the acquirer will make the acquisition through a $16m combination of new and vendor shares.

Thai Union Frozen Products manufactures seafood-based food products, while TUMD is a Luxembourgish investment holding company.

The acquisition will enable Thai Union Frozen Products to expand its presence in fast-growing emerging markets.
