Firmenich agrees to acquire stake in manufacturing firm Robertet

Swiss taste company Firmenich has entered an agreement with First Eagle Investment Management to acquire a 17% stake in French natural ingredients producer Robertet for a consideration of €683.30 per security.

Established in 1850, Robertet is engaged in the production of flavours for the food markets, including dairy and sweet segments.

Firmenich Board chairman Patrick Firmenich said: “Firmenich has the greatest respect for Robertet, with its family values, long-term vision of the industry and leading capabilities in natural ingredients.

“As a long-term oriented shareholder, this investment reflects Firmenich’s commitment to best support Robertet’s continued growth.”

The investment is reported to be in line with the company’s vision for sustainable and natural solutions.

Firmenich noted that it is also considering to become a long-term shareholder of Robertet alongside the Maubert Family.

The company is open to discussions for broader participation in its long-term success.

Firmenich CEO Gilbert Ghostine said: “With its strong naturals portfolio in Perfumery, Flavours and Ingredients, Robertet is well-positioned to benefit from consumers’ continued demand for authentic natural products.”

The company further added that it has filed a declaration of the crossing of thresholds and statement of intent with the AMF in line with applicable regulations.

In May, Firmenich unveiled plans to expand its presence in the Indian market with the acquisition of a significant stake in seasonings and flavours manufacturer VKL Seasoning from private equity company True North.

Firmenich intends to further enhance its capabilities and customer reach in India, which is one of the key markets for the company.
