Deals this week: Oaktree Organics, Business Growth Fund, Amatheon Agri Holding

Oaktree Organics LP and Oaktree Huntington Investment Fund II LP have announced an investment of $27.75m in Canadian organic food company SunOpta Inc.

Oaktree Organics and Oaktree Huntington are investment funds managed by US-based private equity firm Oaktree Capital Management LP.

The deal includes the acquisition of 3.7 million additional common shares of SunOpta priced at $7.5 a share. Oaktree will own approximately 8,092,600 common shares and 85,000 Series A preferred shares of SunOpta, following the acquisition.

Private equity firm Business Growth Fund plc (BGF) has invested $11.32m in craft bakers operator Coopland and Son (Scarborough) Ltd.

Both the companies involved in the deal are based in the UK.

Amatheon Agri Holding NV has issued 20 million shares to Sapinda Holding BV to raise $11.78m.

Based in Germany, Amatheon Agri is an agribusiness and food company, while Sapinda Holding is a UK-based investment firm.

Online food products retailer Matsmart Scandinavia AB has raised $8.81m in funds from three venture capital firms, Norrsken Foundation, D-Ax Corporate Venture Capital, and Northzone Ventures.

All the companies involved in the deal are based in Sweden.
