Deals and M&As this week: Vivan Foods, Mr. Mark, NutriSattva

Vivan Foods (Fric Bergen) has raised an undisclosed amount through a seed funding round.

The funding round involved participation from Kishore Ganji of Astir IT Solutions, Apurva Salarpuria of Salarpuria Group, Rushi Ajmera of Ajmera Realty, Pratul Dalal of Western Press and Pranay Desai of CD Equisearch.

Based in India, Vivan Foods is a manufacturer of processed food products under the Fric Bergen brand.

The transaction enables Fric Bergen to fortify its position in the distribution segment, as well as enter the hotel, restaurant and catering industry.

NutriSattva has raised an undisclosed amount through a funding round from Mumbai Angels Network.

Based in India, NutriSattva is a natural protein-based functional foods start-up.

Cargill has agreed to sell its malt business to Boortmalt for an undisclosed amount.

The transaction includes 15 facilities across four continents and the malt business employs more than 500 people.

US-based Cargill is a global food company, with its malt business serving brewing, food and beverage industries.

Founded in 1927, Boortmalt is a subsidiary of Axereal.

Axereal is involved in the processing of cereals for brewing, baking, and livestock industries. It operates in 13 countries and generates revenue of $3.4bn a year.

The transaction will enable Boortmalt to expand its global presence and allow Cargill to improve its malt business.

Lamb Weston Holdings Inc has completed the acquisition of Marvel Packers Pty Ltd for an undisclosed amount.

Based in the US, Lamb Weston is a premium potato company involved in the production of innovative frozen potato, appetiser and vegetable products.

Marvel Packers is an Australian frozen potato processor, which operates frozen potato processing and storage facilities in Hallam, Victoria.

The transaction results in the addition of 50 million pounds of production capacity to Lamb Weston’s existing manufacturing network.

With the acquisition of Hallam facility, Lamb Weston now owns 16 processing facilities globally and an additional nine facilities through its joint venture partners.

Bakery brand Mr Mark has secured CNY60m ($8.7m) through a venture funding round.

The funding round involved participation from Yongchao Investment.

Dutch Royal FrieslandCampina intends to acquire Best Cheese Corporation USA for an undisclosed amount.

FrieslandCampina is a global dairy company, while Best Cheese Corporation is a speciality cheese vendor and importer.

The former shareholders of Best Cheese will no longer be involved with the business.
