Covid-19: Reser’s Fine Foods suspends production at Kansas plant

US-based baked products manufacturer Reser’s Fine Foods has announced a temporary closure of its plant in Topeka, Kansas, after one of its employees was tested positive for Covid-19.

The company said that it suspended operations at the facility for a period of 14 days to test all employees working at that site.

Reser’s Fine Foods said: “We are working in partnership with the Shawnee County Health Department, who will handle the testing and we will support contact tracing efforts. Employees will continue to be paid and receive benefits during this time.

“When we resume operations, we will continue the supplemental deep cleaning and sanitation measures we added in early March to the regular, thorough procedures at the plant.”

The company implemented a range of workspace modifications more than two months ago to ensure proper social distancing among its employees at the facility.

Reser’s Fine Foods plan to continue providing its employees with personal protective equipment.

The company stated: “The health and safety of our employees is our top priority, and our entire team is fully engaged in slowing the spread of the virus. We will continue to carefully follow CDC guidance to support our hardworking team members who are committed to providing food to our loyal consumers.”

Reser’s Fine Foods offers a wide range food products under various brands, including Reser’s American Classics deli salads, Reser’s Sensational Sides side dishes, Baja Café and Don Pancho Mexican Foods, Main St. Bistro baked sides and dinners, and Stonemill Kitchens gourmet dips.

It also expanded its culinary portfolio and now offers a variety of fresh-cut fruits and veggies.
