Conagra completes Sandwich Bros acquisition in US

US-based food company Conagra Brands (Conagra) has completed the acquisition of Wisconsin-based producer of frozen breakfast and entrée flatbread pocket sandwiches Sandwich Bros of Wisconsin business (Sandwich Bros).

Financial details of the transaction have not been divulged by both the companies.

Conagra is reported to have entered an agreement with Sandwich Bros to acquire its business on 21 December last year.

At the time of signing the agreement, Conagra Brands president and chief executive officer Sean Connolly said: “Adding the Sandwich Bros business to our portfolio is another step in Conagra Brands’ ongoing work to accelerate growth.

“This acquisition will bring Conagra unique capabilities and expertise within the frozen handheld category, which we look forward to leveraging for further growth and extension into additional Conagra brands.”

Established in 1979 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by George Kashou, Sandwich Bros is a family owned and operated food company.

The company claims that its flatbread pocket sandwiches are filled with proteins such as 100% Angus beef and chicken raised without antibiotics, which are distributed to grocery stores, club, convenience and mass merchandisers, foodservice, military, and private label customers across the US.

Sandwich Bros noted that it will continue to produce its sandwich products at its Milwaukee facility.
