North America’s food industry saw a rise of 3.33% in deal activity during September 2021

North America’s food industry saw a rise of 3.33% in deal activity during September 2021, when compared with the last 12-month average, led by Domestic Group’s $900m acquisition of Igloo Products, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

 

A total of 31 food industry deals worth $1.5bn were announced for the region in September 2021, against the 12-month average of 30 deals.

Of all the deal types, venture financing saw most activity in September 2021 with 14 transactions, representing a 45.2% share for the region.

In second place was M&A with nine deals, followed by private equity deals with eight transactions, respectively capturing a 29.03% and 25.8% share of the overall deal activity for the month.

In terms of value of deals, M&A was the leading category in North America’s food industry with $1.35bn, followed by venture financing deals totalled $183.11m.

The combined value of the top five food deals stood at $1.51bn, against the overall value of $1.54bn recorded for the month.
