North America’s food industry saw a drop of 7.69% in deal activity during June 2021, when compared with the last 12-month average, led by Melitas Ventures and Valor Siren Ventures’ $6.1m acquisition of Rind Snacks, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

 

A total of 24 food industry deals worth $27.2m were announced for the region in June 2021, against the 12-month average of 26 deals.

Of all the deal types, venture financing saw most activity in June 2021 with ten transactions, representing a 41.7% share for the region.

In second place was M&A with nine deals, followed by private equity deals with five transactions, respectively capturing a 37.5% and 20.8% share of the overall deal activity for the month.

In terms of value of deals, venture financing was the leading category in North America’s food industry with $27.2m.
