North America’s food industry saw a drop of 0.00% in deal activity during February 2021

North America’s food industry saw a flat growth in deal activity during February 2021, when compared with the last 12-month average, led by Hormel Foods’ $3.35bn acquisition of Kraft Heinz, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

 

A total of 27 food industry deals worth $3.39bn were announced for the region in February 2021, against the 12-month average of 27 deals.

Of all the deal types, venture financing saw most activity in February 2021 with 12 transactions, representing a 44.4% share for the region.

In second place was M&A with nine deals, followed by private equity deals with six transactions, respectively capturing a 33.3% and 22.2% share of the overall deal activity for the month.

In terms of value of deals, M&A was the leading category in North America’s food industry with $3.35bn, followed by venture financing deals totalled $40.57m.

The combined value of the top five food deals stood at $3.37bn, against the overall value of $3.39bn recorded for the month.
