Food industry venture financing deals total $592.24m in US in Q1 2021

Total food industry venture financing deals worth $592.24m were announced in the in Q1 2021, with $200m venture financing of Eat JUST being the sector’s biggest investment, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked an increase of 128.2% over the previous quarter and a rise of 20.8% when compared with the last four-quarter average of $490.46m.

The US held a 40.56% share of the global food industry venture financing deal value that totalled $1.46bn in Q1 2021.

In terms of deal activity, the US recorded 36 deals during Q1 2021, marking an increase of 20.00% over the previous quarter and a a rise of 11.63% over the last four-quarter average.

The top five food industry venture financing deals accounted for 88.2% of the overall value during Q1 2021.

The combined value of the top five venture financing deals stood at $522.5m, against the overall value of $592.24m recorded for the quarter.
