Food industry venture financing deals total $1.07bn globally in March 2021

The $300m venture financing of Guoquan Shihui was the food industry’s top venture financing deal as total deals worth $1.07bn were announced globally in March 2021, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked an increase of 740.2% over the previous month of $127.35m and a rise of 298.8% when compared with the last 12-month average, which stood at $268.32m.

Comparing venture financing deals value in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position, with total announced deals in the period worth $587.57m. At the country level, the China topped the list in terms of deal value at $563.04m.

In terms of volumes, Asia-Pacific emerged as the top region for food industry venture financing deals globally, followed by Europe and then North America.

The top country in terms of venture financing deals activity in March 2021 was the China with 13 deals, followed by the US with seven and India with four.

In 2021, as of March, food venture financing deals worth $1.46bn were announced globally, marking a decrease of 6.5% year on year.

The combined value of the top five food venture financing deals stood at $944.67m, against the overall value of $1.07bn recorded for the month.
