Total food industry venture financing deals in Q4 2019 worth $212.98m were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 24.4% over the previous quarter and a drop of 32.7% when compared with the last four-quarter average, which stood at $316.51m.

Comparing deals value in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position, with total announced deals in the period worth $119.32m. At the country level, the US topped the list in terms of deal value at $73.24m.

In terms of volumes, Asia-Pacific emerged as the top region for food industry venture financing deals globally, followed by North America and then Europe.

The top country in terms of venture financing deals activity in Q4 2019 was the US with 19 deals, followed by China with 11 and the UK with seven.

In 2019, as of the end of Q4 2019, food venture financing deals worth $1.25bn were announced globally, marking an increase of 146.6% year on year.
