Food industry private equity deals in Q4 2019 total $1.67bn globally

Total food industry private equity deals in Q4 2019 worth $1.67bn were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 61.8% over the previous quarter and a drop of 13.9% when compared with the last four-quarter average, which stood at $1.94bn.

Comparing deals value in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position, with total announced deals in the period worth $905.5m. At the country level, France topped the list in terms of deal value at $900m.

In terms of volumes, North America emerged as the top region for food industry private equity deals globally, followed by Europe and then Asia-Pacific.

The top country in terms of private equity deals activity in Q4 2019 was the US with 12 deals, followed by Spain with two and Switzerland with one.

In 2019, as of the end of Q4 2019, food private equity deals worth $9.27bn were announced globally, marking an increase of 85.3% year on year.

The combined value of the top five food private equity deals stood at $1.67bn, against the overall value of $1.67bn recorded for the month.

4) The $15m private equity deal with Sugarfina by Bristol Luxury Group

5) Investcorp’s private equity deal with Intergrow Brands for $11.3m.
