Total food industry private equity deals in Q3 2020 worth $764.37m were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked an increase of 59.7% over the previous quarter and a drop of 53.6% when compared with the last four-quarter average, which stood at $1.65bn.

Comparing deals value in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position, with total announced deals in the period worth $400.42m. At the country level, Spain topped the list in terms of deal value at $353.22m.

In terms of volumes, Europe emerged as the top region for food industry private equity deals globally, followed by North America and then Asia-Pacific.

The top country in terms of private equity deals activity in Q3 2020 was Italy with four deals, followed by the US with four and Spain with two.

In 2020, as of the end of Q3 2020, food private equity deals worth $1.32bn were announced globally, marking a decrease of 83.1% year on year.
