Food industry M&A deals in November 2020 total $3.51bn globally

Total food industry M&A deals in November 2020 worth $3.51bn were announced globally, according to GlobalData’s deals database.

The value marked a decrease of 16.4% over the previous month and a rise of 41.6% when compared with the last 12-month average, which stood at $2.48bn.

Comparing deals value in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position, with total announced deals in the period worth $2.57bn. At the country level, the US topped the list in terms of deal value at $999.5m.

In terms of volumes, North America emerged as the top region for food industry M&A deals globally, followed by Asia-Pacific and then Europe.

The top country in terms of M&A deals activity in November 2020 was the US with 13 deals, followed by Japan with four and Australia with two.

In 2020, as of the end of November 2020, food M&A deals worth $25.47bn were announced globally, marking an increase of 36.1% year on year.

The combined value of the top five food M&A deals stood at $2.73bn, against the overall value of $3.51bn recorded for the month.
